Dorothy Mae Hunt was born April 27, 1929 in Topeka, Kansas to Herman and Mae Francis (Lehms) Swanson and passed away on November 12, 2005 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 6 days. She graduated in 1950 from Nebraska School for the Deaf in Omaha. Dorothy was united in marriage to Ronald E. Hunt on March 18, 1951 in Chappell, Nebraska. To this union one son, Rory was born. They lived on a farm near Chappell and then moved to Lincoln and to Seward in 1980. Dorothy was a member of the Lincoln Silent Club, OAD-Omaha Association for the Deaf. In later years Dorothy and Ronald enjoyed camping both groups. She recently was asked to teach sign language. Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents, Herman and Mae Swanson, husband, Ronald E. Hunt and her brother and sister-in-law, Donald L. and Wilma E. Swanson, and her brother-in-law, Wilmer Hunt. Dorothy is survived by her son, Rory of Seward, brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee and Dorothy Swanson, of Sterling, CO, Dale Pete and Betty Mae Swanson of Vancouver, WA, Charles and Wilma Swanson of Loveland, CO., sisters-in-law, Irene Stone, Denver, CO, Nora Toomey, Kearney, and Marcella Hunt, Lincoln, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Dorothy. |
