Obituary

Dorothy A. Kobza was born on July 5, 1931, in Brainard, Nebraska to Adolph and Bernice (Coufal) Divis and passed away on March 26, 2023, in Gretna, Nebraska at the age of 91 years, 8 months and 21 days. Little did she know that her birthday was the day after her future husband's birthday, Bernard Kobza, the love of her life.

In December of 1938, her family moved to a farm south of David City, Nebraska where she remained throughout her childhood. Dorothy attended school in Districts 6, 58 and David City Public. She met Bernard Kobza at a wedding dance, and they later married on August 20, 1952, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City, Nebraska. To this union three children were born, Jan, Bud and Judy.

Over the years, Dorothy and Bernard lived in Alexandria, Louisiana, Valparaiso, Friend, Ulysses, Seward and Gretna. After the couple retired, they moved back to Seward to enjoy their retirement years. She loved her husband very much and they spent the majority of their time together. Dorothy also loved her family and instilled in them the importance of attending Mass. In her free time, she enjoyed flower gardening, especially iris' and violets, but most of all, she loved dancing with Bernard to Czech music. Dorothy was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Altar Society.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard C. Kobza; parents, Adolph and Bernice (Coufal) Divis; brother, Kenneth Divis; brother-in-law, Joe Kobza; niece, Lynn Wilke; great-nephew, Kenton Kobza; infant great-niece and nephew, Ava and Noah Bungey.

Survivors cherishing her memory include her children and spouses, Janice (Gregg) Schnack, Gretna, NE, Judith (Dave) Walahoski, Loudon, TN, Bernard J. "Bud" (Vickey) Kobza, Papillion, NE; grandchildren, Andrew (Jenn) Schnack, Lenexa, KS, Kelly Schnack, Olathe, KS, Jacob Walahoski, Raleigh, NC, Jared (Rachel) Walahoski, Fayetteville, GA, Marsha Hardesty and Denise Peters, Omaha, NE; great-grandchildren, Harper Schnack and a new baby great-granddaughter due in July, Shelby and Kaitlyn Hardesty, Ciara, Caslyn and Colton Peters; great-great-grandchildren, Carson Brown, Miles, Axel and Nova Barges; sister, Louise (Bob) Prochaska, Norfolk, NE; sister-in-law, Ruth Divis, Omaha, NE; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Ellen (Art) Dobesh, Bob (Jane) Kobza, Rita Kobza; several nieces and nephews. Now we set her free to dance with Bernard to Czech music in Heaven with thoughts, prayers and wonderful memories of a life shared with them both.
