Douglas Dee Colberg was born on March 5, 1939, in Stromsburg, Nebraska to Myron and Lucille (Larson) Colberg and passed away on October 18, 2023, in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 13 days.
Doug grew up in Stromsburg where he attended and graduated from Stromsburg High School with the Class of 1957. He attended Wesleyan University for a short time before enlisting into the United States Army on October 15, 1957. He was stationed at Fort Campbell and Fort Carson until he was honorably discharged on October 14, 1959. Doug worked for a short time at Western Electric. He then attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln where he received his bachelor's degree in education. It was during this time that Doug was united in marriage to Judith Bond in Lincoln on April 8, 1961, and to this union two sons, Randal and Jeffry were born. Doug taught school at Stromsburg High School during the late 1960's until the family moved back to Lincoln while he worked on his master's degree. In 1974, the family moved to Seward, Doug worked for the Nebraska Department of Education from October 1, 1973, until his retirement on December 26, 1997.
Doug and Judy enjoyed spending winters in Arizona for 10 years. He loved playing golf, fishing, watching old movies, especially John Wayne. Doug was a member of the Masonic Lodge #126 in Stromsburg and a longtime member of the Seward United Methodist Church.
Douglas is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy Colberg.
Survivors cherishing his memory include his children and spouses, Randy Colberg and wife, Holly Moritz, Seward, Jeff and wife, Lisa Colberg, Lincoln; two grandsons, Jared and Cameron Colberg; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Beki Colberg and family, Waverly; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Roger Burgason and family, Lincoln; one niece, several nephews and cousins.
