Earl Arthur Scott was born at home in rural Hickman, Nebraska on May 4, 1925 to Arthur and Ella (Reischlein) Scott. Earl died on September 28, 2009 at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 84 years, 4 months, 24 days. He was confirmed on April 6, 1941 at the Hickman Presbyterian Church. Earl graduated from Hickman High School in May of 1942. In 1944, Earl moved with his family to a farm near Beaver Crossing. In the fall of 1946, he began dating his future wife, Deloris B. Bohaty. On December 4, 1947 he was united in marriage to Deloris at the United Methodist Church in Beaver Crossing. Earl and Deloris began their lives together farming at several farms they rented.
On May 14, 1957, they adopted a son Dale Lee (2-22-57). Two years later on June 26, 1959, they adopted a daughter Linda Kay (4-6-59). In 1965, they moved to a farm they had purchased southeast of Beaver Crossing where they lived until they moved to Friend, Nebraska in 2002. Earl farmed and operated a dairy farm until the late 1970's before he decided to retire from farming and try something different. He began working at the gas station located on I-80 at the Milford Interchange. Over the next couple of years he helped to construct the world's largest "Covered Wagon". The story was featured on the CBS program "On the Road With Charles Kuralt". After the wagon was finished he started to work as a custodian at Southeast Community College in Milford. He worked for ten years before retiring in 1990. Earl was a 53 year member of the Beaver Crossing United Methodist Church. Earl could be found most days working in his shop. He loved wood working and had constructed many pieces. His most recent project was making bird houses. He loved flowers and gardens, with roses being one of his favorites.
Earl is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ella Scott and his brother, Ronald F. Scott.
Earl is survived by his wife, Deloris B. Scott of Friend; daughter and son-in-law, Linda (Scott) and Lonnie Mueller of Lincoln; son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Char Scott, Lincoln; grand children, Derek Mueller, Devin Mueller, Kelsey Scott; step-grandchildren, Sgt.
