Edith Marie Guthal was born October 26, 1910 in Ulysses, Nebraska to Fredrick and Louise Marie (Krueger) Guthal and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on August 31, 2008, at the age of 97 years, 10 months, 5 days. Edith was the secretary/treasurer of her 1929 Ulysses High School graduating class. She graduated from business college in Lincoln, worked for an insurance company there and then returned to Ulysses to work for Carl Diers in the general store for 23 years. She purchased the store from Mr. Diers and was the owner/operator of Edith's Store for 18 years, closing the store and retiring in 1976. Edith remained active on her farm until moving to Seward in 1985. Edith was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ulysses. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Louise Guthal; brothers and sister-in-law, Carl Guthal and Henry and Eva Guthal. Edith is survived by cousins and a host of friends.
