Edith C. Sisel was born on June 30, 1935, on the family farm near Dwight, Nebraska to Ludvik and Rose (Helman) Hotovy and passed away on May 8, 2019, in Seward at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 8 days. Edith grew up and was raised on a farm near Dwight. She attended Dwight Assumption Grade School and graduated from Dwight Assumption High School with the Class of 1953.
On December 28, 1954, she was united in marriage to Leonard L. Sisel at Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight. The couple lived on a farm near Bee. Edith worked at various jobs in Seward. She enjoyed traveling, working with her flowers and gardening, going to casinos and attending her grandchildren's activities. Edith was a lifelong member of Assumption Catholic Church, Dwight Legion Auxiliary, Dwight Assumption Altar Society, Dwight Assumption Funeral Committee, Past President of Dwight Legion Auxiliary and Military Order of Purple Heart Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Sisel (July 20, 2018); parents, Ludvik and Rose Hotovy; brothers, Sylvester Hotovy, Lou and Ramona Hotovy, Leonard and Donna Hotovy, Julius Hotovy.
Edith is survived by her four children and their spouses; Susie Kotera and husband Al, Lincoln, Shari Havlovic and husband Greg, Brainard, Steve Sisel and wife Susan, Dwight and Scott Sisel and wife Angie, Bee; seven grandchildren, Casey Kotera and wife Kristin, Matthew Kotera and wife Chelsea, Shane Sisel and wife Heather, Shelby Schomerus and husband Kyle, Kylee Chapek and husband Brandon, Evan Sisel and Katie Sisel; three great grandchildren; sister, Arlene Stastny and husband Dennis, sister-in-law, Connie Hotovy. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Edith.
