Edmund Charles Fiala was born August 21, 1928 in Dwight, Nebraska, the son of Charles John and Anastasia (Sobotka) Fiala and passed away on October 18, 2015 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 87 years, 1 month, 27 days. Edmund was a 1946 graduate of Ulysses High School. He served in the U.S. Army, in Korea, from January 15, 1951 to October 15, 1952. On April 29, 1954, Edmund was united in marriage to Bernardine Divis and their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Rebecca and Patricia. Edmund was employed with Burlington Railroad and retired at 62 years of age. He also farmed and raised Hereford livestock in the Bee area, where they lived all of their married life. Edmund loved building; he and Bernie remodeled the former Romaine School into their family home. Edmund also enjoyed playing, watching and listening to all sports, along with working on his antique cars. Most of all, Ed loved time with his family. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Bee. Edmund is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anastasia Fiala; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Bernard Maloney; brother, Donald Fiala; brothers-in-law, Gerald Kane, Cyrill Hain; sister-in-law, Joyce Fiala; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gabriella and Calvin Pavlish; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Divis. Edmund is survived by his wife, Bernie Fiala of Bee; daughters Becky and her husband John Wallroff, Bee and Patti Popken and significant other, Kevin Kirkland, Garland; grandchildren, Corey and Olivia Wallroff, Brandon Wallroff and special friend, Andrea Holtzen, Patrick Popken and Rachel Popken; sisters, Orletha Ann Kane, Chandler, AZ, Delores Hain, Seward; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley and Sally Fiala, Chandler, AZ, Raymond and Marla Fiala, Lincoln, Charles and DeeDee Fiala, Garland; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ramona and Robert Kunasek, Bee; sisters-in-law, Florence Bartek, Lincoln, Eva Schaefer, Milford; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
