Edna Margaretha (Blomenkamp) Hanseling was born March 21, 1922 near Herington, Kansas to William and Ida (Brockmeier) Blomenkamp and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on June 30, 2009 at the age of 87 years, 3 months, 9 days. Edna was baptized April 16, 1922 and confirmed on April 18, 1937. She attended Christian Day School at St. Paul's Lutheran in Herington, Kansas. On February 8, 1948, Edna was united in marriage to Walter William Hanseling, also at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Herington. Their marriage was blessed with two children, James and Gloria. The couple lived all of their married life and farmed east of Seward. Edna was a housewife and homemaker. Following Walter's death in 1989, she moved to Seward. Edna was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Seward. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ida Blomenkamp; her husband, William Hanseling; son, James Hanseling; sister, Lola Herpich; brother, Milton Blomenkamp; sister-in-law, Nelda Hanseling. Edna is survived by her daughter, Gloria Heath of Seward; grandchildren and spouses, Jamie Vacha of Seward, Marvin and Kitty Vacha of Seward, Angela Diam, Lincoln, Tamara and Todd Painter of Lincoln; 15 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Betty Hanseling of Louisville, Kentucky; other relatives and a host of friends.
