Edward V. Walsh, Jr. was born November 10, 1920 near Gresham, Nebraska to Edward and Eva (Knouse) Walsh and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at the age of 86 years, 3 months, 28 days. He graduated from the Ritchie School near Gresham. Ed served in the U.S. Army 242nd Field Artillery Battalion from 1942-1945. After his military service he attended and graduated from Milford Technical School. Ed was united in marriage to Jeanne Cook on November 21, 1946 in Belleville, Kansas and celebrated 60 years of marriage. He owned and operated Walsh Texaco at the corner of 6th and Jackson Streets in Seward for 23 years. He was a member of the Seward United Methodist Church. Ed enjoyed fishing and gardening. He published his war memoirs and enjoyed internet communication with interested veterans and families throughout the world. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Eva Walsh; and his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Sylvia Walsh and a foster sister, Opal Pratt. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Walsh of Seward; his sons and daughters-in-law, E.V. And Susan Walsh of Seward, J.R. (Randy) and Laurie Walsh of Hydes, Maryland; seven grandchildren, Liz Troyer, Vince Walsh, J.B. Walsh, Aaron Walsh, Rachael Lively, Jesse Walsh and Jacob Walsh; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Ed. |
