Edward Martin Konopik was born June 27, 1929 in Richland, Nebraska to Martin and Wilma (Lapacek) Konopik and passed away in Utica, Nebraska on May 25, 2009 at the age of 79 years, 10 months, 28 days. Ed served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War; following his military service he farmed with his father until 1958. Ed worked for Fehrs Tractor in Omaha and the City of Omaha. He was employed at Hughes Brothers Manufacturing in Seward for 6 years and retired in 1989. Ed was a mechanic and welder and was happiest when he was working on engines. Ed was united in marriage to Joyce Lucille Crom and their marriage was blessed with two sons, David and Michael. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Wilma Konopik. Ed is survived by his wife, Joyce Konopik of Seward; his son, David Konopik of Seward and son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Ann Konopik of Salisbury, MD; grandchildren, Leslie, Jennifer and Matthew Konopik; great-grandchildren, Matthew "Mini Matt" and Jordan Konopik all of Salisbury, MD; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Yoko Konopik of Las Vegas, Nevada; sisters and brother-in-law, Nadine and Victor Humlicek of Ashland and Darlene Mastera of Schuyler; other relatives and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Ed. |
