Edwin John Hottovy was born May 15, 1932 in David City, Nebraska to Adolph Ernest and Helen Mary (Soukup) Hottovy and passed away on October 1, 2008, in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 76 years, 4 months, 17 days. Edwin was a 1950 graduate of Assumption High School in Dwight. He was an accomplished athlete and particularly enjoyed playing basketball with his high school friends. Edwin served his country in the U.S. Navy and then returned to the family farm. Edwin took great pride in farming and his work and always gave his best at whatever he did. Edwin was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight where he was an usher and a Parish Trustee for many years. He was a devout Catholic and believed in the value of a Catholic education. Edwin's nieces and nephews enjoyed spending time with him and thought he was unique and one of a kind. Edwin spent several years caring for his parents, Adolph and Helen Hottovy prior to their deaths. He was also preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, George Hraban and Ken Panfil. Edwin is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Paula Hottovy of Dwight; his sisters and brother-in-law, Marcie Hraban of Dwight, Connie and Louis Belsan, Jr. of Chula Vista, California and Elaine Panfil of Orland Park, Illinois. Additional survivors include 17 nieces and nephews; 45 great nieces and nephews; 13 great-great-nieces and nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Edwin. |
