Eileen May (Amos) Bender was born May 12, 1917 in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska to John Jefferson "Jeff" and Anna "Annie" Matilda (Schwarz) Amos and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on August 30, 2010 at the age of 93 years, 3 months, 18 days. Eileen attended school in Bradshaw and Beaver Crossing, Nebraska and also in Chicago, Illinois. On February 19, 1935, Eileen was united in marriage to Joseph Harold Bender in Geneva, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Donald and Joyce. The couple lived in Lincoln for six years and in 1941 they moved to Chicago where they lived for 36 years. Eileen was employed with F. W. Woolworth first as a counter clerk and then ordering merchandise. In 1977 they moved to Seward. Eileen was a longtime member of the Beaver Crossing United Methodist Church. She also gave free primary care to several people in Chicago and also in Seward. Eileen is preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Annie Amos and her husband, Harold Bender, in 1997. Eileen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Deanna Bender of Mt. Prospect, Illinois and her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Donald Follot of Genoa City, Wisconsin; two grandchildren, Darlene and husband Dan Waldron and David and wife Angela Bender, her seven great-grandchildren, Daniel, Allie, and Matthew Waldron and Jake, Kyle, Maggie and Cate Bender; sister-in-law, Evelyn Wieger, nieces and nephew Elaine Ornelas and Darlene and Robert Samuelson; an aunt, Florence Amos, other relatives and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Eileen. |
