Obituary

Elizabeth Ann "Beth" Brown was born on September 3, 1947, to Calvin Lee and Betty Jane (Porterfield) Ray in San Antonio, Texas and passed away on December 9, 2016, in Seward at the age of 69 years, three months and six days.

Beth grew up in the Lincoln area and where she attended many different grade schools. Beth graduated from Cortland in 1965 as the last graduating class before becoming Norris Public school. She then attended the University of Nebraska where she received a Bachelor's Degree in art. After graduation she taught school for one year in Silver Creek. On February 14, 1969, she married Leath Maurice Brown at the Unadilla United Methodist Church in Unadilla, NE. They later divorced. Beth later worked at Social Services in Plattsmouth and also in Pender for several years. She then was a stay at home mom and later lived with her daughter Michelle for 15 years as her husband served in the United States Navy, Beth helped with her grandchildren. Beth was a long time Girl Scouts Leader in Nebraska and while living in Virginia. She loved to paint, draw, work with pottery, gardening and raising flowers. She enjoyed watching people enjoying her different gardens. After her son-in-law was discharged from the Navy, she returned to the Midwest where she ended up in Seward to be close to her sisters.

Beth was preceded in death by her parents and one niece Teri Lynn Horton.

She is survived by her two daughters, Michelle Lynna Warner of Grand Island, and Melinda Lee Brown and Brian Smith of St. Cloud, MN, four grandchildren, AshLee Warner of Grand Island, Jacob Warner of Grand Island, Maxwell Levi Brown of Omaha and TimMarie Warner, of Grand Island, three sisters, Claudia (Ric) Horton of Seward, Janelle (Paul) Duntz of Lincoln, Janette (Rod) Yencensky of Rapid City, SD, two brothers, Lee (Vicki) Ray of Thedford, NE, and Patrick (Gail) Ray of Dannebrog, NE.
