Ella Marie (Swanson) Daehling was born September 12, 1910 on a farm near Staplehurst, Nebraska to John and Johanne (Bjerrum) Swanson. She was raised with her five brothers. She was baptized on September 24, 1910 and confirmed on May 10, 1925. Ella attended Staplehurst District No. 14 and was a 1928 graduate of Seward High School. She attended the University of Nebraska for one year of Normal Training, received her teaching certificate and taught for 6 years at District No. 44 and District No. 43. Ella was united in marriage to Lester Henry Daehling on December 20, 1936; they farmed all of their married life west of Staplehurst. Ella moved into Staplehurst in 1970. She played the organ for several years at her home church, Our Saviors Evangelical Lutheran Church in Staplehurst; she worked for many years in the local cafe in Staplehurst. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (Marysville).

Ella was preceded in death by her parents, John and Johanne Swanson; her husband, Lester in 1962 and her five brothers, Andrew, Elmer, Lawrence, Mark and Silas Swanson.

Ella is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Gayle and Ardith Daehling of Blair, Stuart and Patty Daehling of Staplehurst, Terry and Sandy Daehling of Lincoln and Randall and Patti Daehling of Lincoln; her eight grandchildren and spouses, Michael and Cindy Daehling, Brian and Shannon Daehling, Kevin and Karla Daehling, Shelli and Matt Rossen, Brent Daehling and fianc, Leah Spieker, Tricia and Kevin Holle, Gregory Daehling, Duke and Julia Daehling; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.
