Elmer Valdean Bean was born February 24, 1925 in Nuckolls County, Nebraska to Owen Elbert and Bessie Marie (Nelson) Bean and passed away at his home in Seward, Nebraska on February 26, 2009 at the age of 84 years, 2 days. Elmer was a 1943 graduate of Seward High School. He was inducted into the U.S. Air Force on August 18, 1943 and was discharged March 10, 1946, serving during World War II. On January 16, 1948, Elmer was united in marriage to Donna Jean McGhie at the Methodist Church in Seward, Nebraska. Elmer was employed with the Lincoln Telephone Company for many years, until his retirement in 1980. He then was employed with Seward Housing Authority for 7 years in the maintenance area. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Bessie Bean; his wife Donna Bean in 2003 and his sister, Mildred Rublee. Elmer is survived by his son, David Bean and fiance' Jane Rust of Fairbury; grandson and wife, Eric and Beth Bean of Omaha; sisters, June Plessel of Milford, Dorothy Rohlfs of Staplehurst and Betty Briggs of Seward; brother, Arthur Bean of Surprise, AZ; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
