Eloise (Muir) Boyes was born October 18, 1916 in Milford, Nebraska, the daughter of Dr. James G. and Nettie (Spear) Muir and passed away at her home in Seward, Nebraska on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the age of 94 years, 11 months, 24 days. Eloise was a 1934 graduate of Milford High School. Following graduation she worked for Iowa Nebraska Public Power in Milford and Seward. On November 14, 1941, she was united in marriage to Carlisle B. Boyes in Seward; their marriage was blessed with three children, Shirley Annette, Betty Jeanne and James Burdette. Eloise was an active member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church doing altar work for over 60 years. Her church was an important part of her life and her church family will miss her loving presence. Eloise was very involved in her children's activities, serving as a Campfire Girl Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother. In later years she worked for Seward Memorial Hospital in medical records. Eloise enjoyed playing cards in several bridge groups; she was a 60+ year member of Busy Hour Homemaker's Club, a former member of Seward Junior Woman's Club and a longtime member of Seward Woman's Club. Eloise was an avid Husker fan and season ticket holder for over 40 years. She had to give up her tickets when her friends couldn't make it to the seats anymore.
Eloise is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carlisle in 1965; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Wilma Muir; sister, Hazel Phillips.
Eloise is survived by her children and their spouses, Shirley and Harold Blank, Lincoln, Betty and David Sanderson, Crossville, TN, James and Gayle Boyes, Leawood, KS; five grandchildren, Amy and husband Shawn Simpson, Jennifer Blank, Kevin Sanderson, Jacob Boyes, Julia Boyes; two great-grandsons, William Parker Simpson and Davis Michael Simpson; nieces, Holly Boyes Squires and Marilyn and Mark Schulz; nephew, Jimmy and Joan Phillips; and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Eloise.
