Elverna Emma (Winkelmann) Gehle was born August 29, 1924 in Seward, Nebraska, the daughter of Henry and Clara (Mueller) Winkelmann and passed away on Monday, February 18, 2013 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 88 years, 5 months, 20 days. Elverna was baptized on September 14, 1924 and confirmed on April 10, 1938, both at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (Marysville), rural Staplehurst. Elverna attended Our Redeemer Lutheran School. On May 16, 1945, she was united in marriage to Gilbert Ernst Rudolph Gehle at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (Marysville). Their marriage was blessed with three children, Gene, Jeanette, and Daniel. Elverna was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid in Seward. Elverna's employment included cleaning for Sheehan Hydraulic, at the Seward Country Club and at Concordia College. She enjoyed playing cards and visiting with her family and friends. Since 2006, Elverna made her home at Ridgewood in Seward. Elverna is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Clara Winkelmann; her husband, Gilbert Gehle; her brother, Ebner Winkelman and sister, Esther Rohren. Elverna is survived by her children and their spouses, Gene and Leanne Gehle, Seward, Jeanette and Richard Kotera, Elgin, Illinois, Dan and Karen Gehle, Topeka, Kansas; seven grandchildren and spouses, Jason and Missy Gehle, Jenny and Jamie Kocian, Tammy and Scott Kocian, Darin and Carrie Kotera, Dwayne and Lisa Kotera, Brittany and Will Austin, Auburn Gehle; 13 great-grandchildren, Makenna Gehle, Gavin Gehle, Reece Kocian, Keigan Kocian, Tenley Kocian, Brayden Kocian, Breken Kocian, Tyler Kotera, Logan Kotera, Brayden Kotera, Brynn Kotera, Kinsley Austin, Noah Buckner and a host of friends.
