Obituary

Erna Charlotte (Knorr) Staehr was born on May 12, 1921 at home, south of Waco, York County, Nebraska, the sixth of eleven children born to Joseph and Anna (Wiemer) Knorr. Erna passed away on February 23, 2015, in Utica, Nebraska at the age of 93 years, 9 months, 11 days. She was baptized on June 5, 1921 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church south of Waco, Nebraska by Rev. F. Wunderlish. She was confirmed on April 14, 1935 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church south Waco by Rev. Koslowski. She attended and graduated on May 29, 1935 from the 8th grade at St. John's Evangelical School south of Waco. Erna was united in marriage to Larry Delbert Staehr on January 24, 1943 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church south of Waco. Erna was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid in Utica. She was also a member of the Utica Commerical Club. Erna was employed as co-owner of Staehr Repair for many years and also had worked for the Utica Nursing Home and Flying V. Erna is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Anna Knorr; her husband Larry Staehr; son Gary Staehr; brother Walter and wife Frieda Knorr; sister Esther and husband Otto Fehlhafer; sister Palma and husband Herman Fehlhafer; sister Lorna and husband Wilbert Schmieding; brother-in-law John Fehlhafer, brother and wife Eric and Geraldine Knorr, sisters Martha Knorr and Vera Knorr and brother Norman Knorr; father-in-law and mother-in-law Emil and Louise Staehr; brother-in-law Laverne Staehr; sisters-in-law Wilma Staehr and Maxine Staehr; brother-in-law Ivan Senff; sister-in-law Delores Luidzius; brothers-in-law Ken Bennetts and Roger Staehr. Erna is survived by her son Jimmy and wife Janet Staehr, Utica, daughter Laura and husband Mark Trentham, Athens, TN and grandchildren Deanna and Mark Slawnyk,Utica, Jay Staehr, York and Valerie Trentham and fiancé Chris Chandler, Cleveland, TN and great grandsons, Trevor, Justin and Devin Slawnyk. Additional survivors include sister, Florence Fahlhafer, Utica, brother Clarence Knorr and wife Shirley, York; sisters-in-law Donna Belle Knorr, Pleasant Hill, MO, Evelyn Staehr, Seward, Lila Senff-Miller and husband Maynard, Hampton, Marlene Will and husband Dale, LaPorte, IN, Doris Staehr, Morgan Hill, CA, Roma Bennetts, Anthem, AZ and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
