Ervin Dvorak was born on April 17, 1938, on Easter Sunday in Bee, Nebraska to Frank and Julia Dvorak and passed away on November 9, 2025, in Overland Park, Kansas at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 23 days. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by family and friends. He loved his family and friends.
Ervin was raised on a farm and attended elementary country school at Bethlehem District School and graduated from Garland, Nebraska High School. He served in the Naval Air Service; graduated from the Electronic Technology Program and graduated Cum Laude, BSEE, Electronic Engineering from the University of Missouri. He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society, Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges, and was a Registered Professional Engineer.
He was employed with General Dynamics Astronautics, McDonnell Aircraft Corporation, U.S. Naval Air Engineering, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an Electronic Engineer and as an Aerospace Engineer with Aircraft Certification until his retirement in 2011.
Ervin's hobbies were driving sports cars (MGB & Mustang), fishing, hunting, boating, skiing, motorcycling, playing cards, and dancing.
He was an usher for St. Therese Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Serra Club, and American Legion Post #110. He was also a Boy Scout Troop Leader.
Mr. Dvorak was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Julia Dvorak.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn of Olathe, KS; daughter, Lynn Dvorak of Kansas City; son, Matthew and wife, Polly of Olathe, Kansas; daughter, Brenda and husband, Lee Cunningham of Orlando, Florida; five grandchildren, Taylor, Morgan, Kallen, London, and Ben; sisters, Patricia Hafer of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Joyce Specht of Wilmington, Delaware.
