Esther was born the seventh child of Friedrich and Katherine (Yakel) Ganshorn, German Russian immigrants, on the family farmstead west of Beaver Crossing, Nebraska, on July 24, 1910. She passed away on June 24, 2010 at her home at Heartland Park in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 99 years, 11 months; she was just one month away from her 100th Birthday. Esther married Reinhold Paul "R.P." Wurst on Easter Sunday, April 16, 1933 in her parent's living room at 944 Washington Street in Lincoln, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Arnie and Rodger. The family farmed to the east of Beaver Crossing. Esther was a 75-year member of the Methodist Church. She was also a member of the WSCS and Golden Age Club of Beaver Crossing and was the recipient of the KOLN/KGIN Sunshine Award. She is preceded in death by her husband, Reinhold in 1973; her parents, Friedrich and Katherine Ganshorn; brothers, Henry, Carl, Joseph, Robert and Harry Ganshorn; sisters, Helen Buehner, Marie Barth, Sophie Schulz and Ruth Ganshorn. Survivors include her sons and daughters-inlaw, Arnie and Earline Wurst of Englewood, Florida and Rodger and Pam Wurst of Lincoln; grandchildren, Janet and Eric Buffkin of Gainesville, FL, Scott and Annette Wurst of Lincoln, Karen Wurst of Sarasota, FL and Lynn and Scott Nimetz of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Eric Elaina, and David Buffkin, Colton and Lily Wurst, Brooke and Jadyn Nimetz; other relatives and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Esther. |
