Eugene Edward Hromas was born September 2, 1932 in Ulysses, Nebraska to Edward Henry and Emma (Krepcik) Hromas and passed away July 8, 2010 at his home at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 6 days. Gene was a 1949 graduate of Ulysses High School. Gene served in the U.S. Army from March of 1953 to January of 1955. On June 3, 1956, Gene was united in marriage to Judi May Haase at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward, Nebraska. Their union was blessed with three children, Lori, Janene and Hope. He was employed with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 35 years. Gene was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, the Dwight American Legion Post #110 and the Z.C.B.J.. Gene was an avid follower of Stock Car racing and enjoyed time spent with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Emma Hromas; a brother-in-law, Gordon Roemer; and many aunts and uncles. Gene is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judi Hromas of Ulysses, NE; daughters and sons-in-law, Lori and Mick Porter of Beatrice, NE, Janene and Rick Welniak of Elyria, NE and Hope Hromas of Seward, NE; grandchildren, Adam Porter and his wife, Candance, Aaron Porter, Lauren, Ben, Abby, Molly and Grant Welniak, Derek and Jordan Saltzman and Taylor Schildt; great grandchildren, Brock Porter and Malachi Moody; sister, Delores Roemer of Fremont, CA; aunt, Lillian Krepcik of Seward, NE; many nieces, nephews and cousins. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of a life shared with Gene. |
