Eva Evelyn (Sobotka) Wood was born on September 10, 1923 in Bee, Nebraska to Ernest and Albina (Divis) Sobotka and passed away on September 4, 2007 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 83 years, 11 months, 24 days. The family moved to Seward and Eva was a 1941 graduate of Seward High School. On November 16, 1946, Eva was united in marriage to Ralph Myron Bud Wood, in Kansas. This union was blessed with ten children, Tom, Roger, Karen, Sue, Kathy, Bill, Dave, Tim, Steve and Ginny. Eva was employed with the Seward County Extension Office and the Seward County Clerk's Office. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, crocheting and most of all spending time with her family. Eva was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Albina Sobotka; her husband, Ralph Bud Wood; her son, Roger Wood, grandson, Jeffery Allen Wood; and an infant sister, Erma Sobotka. Eva is survived by her children and their spouses, Tom and Sue Wood of Seward, Karen and Dale Rees of Kearney, Sue and Ben Coffey of Seward, Kathy and Greg Vandenberg of Seward, Bill Wood and Donna Otte of Seward, Dave and Annette Wood of Seward, Tim and Debbie Wood of Danbury, CT, Steve Wood of Seward, Ginny and Kevin Koranda of Seward; brother, Ronald Sobotka of Grand Island; 18 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Eva. |
