Evelyn Louise Garske was born on October 13, 1923, in Houston, TX, the daughter of Carl and Louise (Heisner) Bahr and entered eternal life on September 25, 2018 to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at the age of 94 years, 11 months and 12 days. She was baptized into the Christian faith on November 18, 1923, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Houston and confirmed into communicant membership there on Palm Sunday, 1935.
From kindergarten through the 8th grade, Evelyn attended Trinity Lutheran School in Houston. Following high school she graduated from Massey Business College and then worked for a variety of firms as secretary and travel agent. In the church she served on various committees, taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School, and for forty years was a faithful and valuable choir member. On June 13, 1946, Evelyn and Herbert Garske were united in holy matrimony in Houston. This union was blessed with three sons, John, Randall and Mark. Since 2006 Evelyn has been a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Staplehurst. Part of Evelyn's last will and testament reads, "I commit myself to God's care, secure in His love for me, and trusting in the salvation purchased for me through Christ's suffering, death, and resurrection. I leave those who survive me the comfort of knowing that I have died in this faith and have now joined my Lord in eternal glory, and look forward to be reunited with my relatives in that eternal day which will have no end. Therefore I encourage them to place their faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone. Amen!
