Fern Anna (Miller) Shrader was born August 31, 1908 near Utica, Nebraska to Roy Calvin and Barbara Etta (Cross) Miller. Fern passed away on August 19, 2008 in Aurora, Nebraska at the age of 99 years, 11 months, 19 days. She was a graduate of Utica High School. In 1952, Fern moved to Lincoln where she worked for the Lincoln City Water and Light Department as an Administrative Assistant from 1952-1969. Fern was a member of Rebekah Lodge #239 in Lincoln, a Life Member of American Legion Auxiliary #49 of Utica and a member of the Seward County Historical Society as well as, the Bethany Women's Club. Preceding Fern in death were her parents, Roy and Barbara Miller; her brothers, Calvin Miller and Joseph Miller and a nephew, Leon Miller. Fern is survived by her nieces and nephews, Joann B. Hopwood of Shelby, James L. Miller of Lincoln, Blaine B. Miller of Ulysses, Richard E. Miller of Grand Island and Susan J. Rego of Atlanta, Georgia; great nieces and great nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Fern. |
