Ferne Helen (Slonecker) Kamprath was born May 20, 1923 in Staplehurst, Nebraska to Loran Henry and Helene Sophia (Schultze) Slonecker and passed away in Lincoln, Nebraska on January 4, 2011, at the age of 87 years, 7 months, 15 days.
Ferne was a 1940 graduate of Seward High School. On May 11, 1947, Ferne was united in marriage to Edwin Oscar Kamprath in Seward. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Kathryn, Karen and David. Ferne was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Seward; a charter member of Seward Concordia Guild and a member of AARP, St. John Bible classes and Church Prayer Group. Ferne was a former employee of Consumers Public Power District and was an Administrative Secretary at Concordia University for 29 years.
Ferne is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin in 2002; daughter, Karen Kamprath Fritts in 1990; parents, Loran and Helene Slonecker; her four brothers, Virgil, Dale, Merle, and Donald Slonecker and two sisters, Evelyn Becker and Shirley Davis.
Ferne is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Rev. Steve Sirek of Lincoln; son and daughter-in-law, David and Holly Kamprath of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Christiana Sirek, Lincoln, Stephanie and Erik DeHaven of Houston, TX; Micah Sirek, Lincoln, Benjamin Kamprath, Omaha, Jacob Kamprath, Lincoln; brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Gerhardt and Vanita Kamprath, Seward; sisters-in-law, Irene Slonecker, David City and Georgia Slonecker of Seattle, WA; brother-in-law, Paul Becker, Tucson, AZ; also many nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Ferne.
