Frances Lynne Nelson was born in Ewing, Nebraska, on April 21, 1936, the third daughter of Louis Wulf, Sr. and Frances Edna (Hashberger) Reimer. Frances passed away on October 4, 2006 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 70 years, 5 months, 12 days. She attended the O'Neill schools and graduated from high school in 1954. On July 17, 1955, she married Richard George Nelson, son of George and Helen Nelson. They originally lived in O'Neill, and later lived in various locations while Richard was in the Army, and later attended electronics school. During part of that time, Frances worked for the Army Civil Service. In 1962, Frances and Richard moved to Wakefield, Nebraska, where Richard operated a TV and appliance store. In 1967, they moved to Bassett, Nebraska, and lived there for 32 years. While in Bassett, Frances served as the Executive Director of the Bassett Housing Authority for 11 years, and was active with the Bassett United Methodist Church, Bassett United Methodist Women, Eastern Star, and Bassett Arts Council. She also served a term on the Bassett City Council. In 1999, Frances and Richard moved just west of Phillips, Nebraska, where she was active in the Phillips United Methodist Church, and Phillips United Methodist Women. Frances was well known for her sewing and quilting skills, and was a charter member of the Sandhills Quilt Guild in Bassett. Frances moved to Seward, Nebraska, in 2004, where she lived until her death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; parents, brothers, Henry and Louis, Jr. ; mother-in-law and father-in-law, George and Helen Nelson; sister-in-laws, Wilma Anson and Sue Matschullat. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Michele Nelson, Seward; sisters, Margaret Moore, Laguna Hills, California, Audrey Taylor, Grand Island; grandchildren, Benjamin and Rebecca; brother-in-law, Larry Nelson, ONeill; 12 nieces and nephews; many other relatives and close friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Frances. |
