Francis Frederick Woolsey was born November 23, 1928 near Surprise, Nebraska to James Frederick and Gladys Mae (Parke) Woolsey and passed away on October 21, 2008 at his home near Staplehurst, Nebraska at the age of 79 years, 10 months, 28 days. He was a 1946 graduate of Ulysses High School. On August 19, 1951, Francis was united in marriage to Marjorie Anne Coufal at the United Methodist Church in Ulysses, Nebraska. Their union was blessed with five children. Francis went into active duty on April 24, 1951 at Bangor, Maine with the Air National Guard. Upon his discharge he returned to farming in Nebraska. He farmed until 1986 and then was employed with Hughes Brothers at Seward until his retirement in 1993. Francis was a member of the United Methodist Church in Seward and Dwight American Legion Post No. 110. After his retirement, Francis enjoyed helping his son on the farm and attending the grandchildrens activities. Francis was preceded in death by his parents, James Fred and Gladys Woolsey and his brother, Robert Woolsey. Francis is survived by his wife, Marjorie Woolsey, Staplehurst; his children and their spouses, Steve and Sharon Woolsey, Ulysses, Kenny and Linda Woolsey, Rising City, Dianne and Steve Makovicka, Brainard, Scott and Judy Woolsey, Ord, and Yvonne and Larry Naber, Utica; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law, Don and Norma Woolsey, Seward; sister-in-law, Anne Woolsey, Friend; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rex and Rita Schwarz, Dick and Joyce Poe, Raymond and Jean White, all of Lincoln; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Francis. |
