Fred Allen Friend was born January 13, 1948 in Akron, Ohio the son of Fred Friend, Jr. and Mary K. (Blankenship) Friend. Fred passed away in Omaha, Nebraska on December 25, 2012 at the age of 64 years, 11 months, 12 days. Fred was a 1967 graduate of Kenmore High School in Akron, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Navy following high school. Fred was a truck driver. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Fred is preceded in death by his father, Fred Friend, Jr.; step-father, Lacy E. Petrey; sister, Pamela K. Brown; nephew, Bobby W. Brown, Jr.; brother-in-law, Larry Harger; sister-in-law, Mary Friend. Fred is survived by his mother, Mary K. Petrey, Young Harris, GA; brothers, William T. Friend, Akron, OH, Robert L. Friend, Cleveland, GA and Jay W. and Shirley Friend, Akron, OH; sisters, Debra and Bill Dills, Hayesville, NC, Mary J. Harger, Young Harris, GA; brother-in-law, Bobby W. Brown, Sr, Young Harris, GA; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts and memories of life shared with Fred.
