Fredrick Julius "Fritz" Duer was born on July 16, 1935 on the farm near Staplehurst, Nebraska to Bernhard Julius "Ben" and Wilhelmina Sophia "Minnie" (Schuemann) Duer and passed away on January 19, 2015 at his home in Staplehurst at the age of 79 years, 6 months, and 3 days. Fritz was baptized on July 28, 1935 and confirmed at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church on March 21, 1948. He attended school in Seward and was a 1952 graduate of Seward High School. Fritz served two years in the U.S. Navy. He was engaged in farming and raising cattle and worked for the Seward County Department of Roads for 31 years. On September 1, 1989, Fritz was united in marriage to Norma Jean (Graham) Reinmiller at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Fritz was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church-rural Staplehurst, the Staplehurst Community Club, VFW Post # 4755 - Seward and American Legion Post # 49 - Utica. Fritz is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Minnie Duer; sisters, Verna Mosely, Darlene Orth, and Dorothy Parks; brothers, Henry Duer and Kenneth Duer; daughter, Debra Reinmiller; son, Douglas Reinmiller; brothers-in-law and spouses, Harold Barth, Lyle McCasland, Melvin and Claudine Carpenter, Walter and Faye Lanman, Willard Kilzer, Lawrence "Bud" Wilken.
