Garnet Lynn Dey was born on November 22, 1960, in Owosso, Michigan to Larry and Connie (Johnson) Wardwell and passed away on June 17, 2021, in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 60 years, 6 months and 26 days. Garnet grew up in the Flint area where she attended school.

Garnet worked in various jobs throughout the years, her most important one of raising her children. She moved to Seward in 1993. She worked at Metromail as well as the Well Bar. Garnet began working at Hughes Brothers Inc. in 2000 and worked there until her passing. On July 23, 2001, she was united in marriage to Jeff Dey in Deadwood, South Dakota.

Garnet loved camping, gardening, reading and watching Cubs baseball with J.D. Her family was very important to her. Garnet was a giving person and loved helping in any way she could. She enjoyed traveling and starting campfires. She was known as "The Firestarter."

Garnet was preceded in death by her father, Larry; brother, William.

Survivors cherishing her memory include her husband, Jeff Dey, Gresham; children, Jeremy and wife, Tanaya Locke, Waverly, April Policky and husband, Jon, Seward, Amanda Wardwell and Matthew Church, York; 7 grandchildren; mother, Connie Lea Stutzman; sisters, Tracey Conover, Cindy Wardwell, Tina Harris, Penny Obershaw, Vicki Glaze; brother, Jeff Wardwell; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
