Gary L. Hodde was born July 2, 1946 in Seward County, Nebraska to Harold & Paula Hans and went to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer on April 9, 2009 at the age of 62 years, 9 months and 7 days. Gary was a graduate of the University of Colorado where he played football for the Buffaloes. Following that he attended the Wisconsin School of Banking. His 33 year career in banking took him to Lincoln, Kearney, North Platte and then to White Sulphur Springs, Montana at the Bank of The Rockies where he was for 15 years. Gary was united in marriage to Belle Smith on September 15, 2005 in Laurel, Montana. Gary & Belle then moved to Laurel, Montana where he retired from United Bank. Gary & Belle moved back to the great State of Nebraska filled with family, friends and dreams. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Seward, the Montana State Bankers Association and was active in Rotary and Elks in Montana. Gary enjoyed golfing, yard work, the Huskers, cars, drag racing, NASCAR and spending time with his friends and family. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Harold Hans; aunts, Velma & Lois Hodde; and uncle, Edgar Hodde. He is survived by his wife, Belle Hodde of Seward; mother, Paula Hans of Lincoln; brother, David Hans and his wife, Tammy Tyler of Denton; sister, Jane Hans of Lincoln; children, Matt Smith and his wife, Donna, Daniel Smith, Kendra Kurtz and her husband, Evan and 3 grandchildren all of Missouri. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Gary. |
