Gary Glenn Metzger was born February 23, 1944 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to John D. and Lois Elaine (Ficke) Metzger and passed away in Lincoln, Nebraska on May 29, 2007 at the age of 63 years, 3 months, 6 days. Gary was a 1962 graduate of Garland High School; he then attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the Agricultural College. Gary was united in marriage to Mary Jane Pelter at Norfolk, Nebraska on March 22, 1967. This marriage was blessed with three children, Dana, Garin and Carmen. Gary taught school in Falls City, Nebraska for a few years. The family lived in several communities before moving to their present home near Pleasant Dale, 10 years ago. Gary served as a Sales Representative with MWI Veterinary Supply Company. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Pleasant Dale, Nebraska. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, John D. Metzger and Lois (Ficke) Metzger Westerhoff Christiansen; and his stepfathers, Lloyd Westerhoff and Elmer Chris Christiansen. Gary is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Metzger of Pleasant Dale; his children, Captain U.S.A.F. Dana Metzger and his wife, Jacquie Metzger of Charleston, South Carolina; Garin Metzger of Pleasant Dale, Carmen Metzger of Seward; grandson, Kysen Metzger; granddaughter, Darien Crumrine; brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Dawne Metzger of Hutchinson, Minnesota; aunt, Evelyn Jensen of Lincoln; nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Garnet Pelter of Lincoln; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry Pelter, Barb Pelter, Tom Pelter, Judy Binger; other family members and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Gary. |
