George James Gatherer was born on August 1, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio to George and Elizabeth (Alford) Gatherer and passed away in Lincoln, Nebraska on August 4, 2021, at the age of 84 years and 3 days.

George grew up in Southern California where he attended school in Agoura, CA. He enlisted into the U.S. Air Force right out of high school and served for 4 years as Air Force Police. George met Barbara in Santa Cruz, CA and they were united in marriage on December 19, 1971, in Valley Yosemite, CA. The couple moved to Hollister, CA where he worked as a general and electrical contractor building and wiring houses. George and Barbara moved to Seward, NE in 2000 to help Barbara's mom. George loved hunting deer, elk and working on cars.

George is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Malcolm Gatherer.

George is survived by his wife, Barbara Gatherer; children, Robin and husband, Daniel Durrence, Oakdale, CA, Royce and wife, Ping Gatherer, Hayward, CA, Lori and husband, Barron Shackelton, Peoria, AZ, Karen Gatherer, Tampa Bay, FL; sister, Betty Williamson.
