Gerald Donald Schultz was born on June 21, 1946, in Owatonna, Minnesota to Donald H. and Rhoda E. (Carlson) Schultz and went to his heavenly home on January 31, 2025, in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 78. He was baptized in 1946, and confirmed on April 10, 1960, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Gerald graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1964. He was united in marriage to Patti Kent and had two children, Kevin and Jennifer. They moved from Cedar Rapids to Brighton, Colorado to pursue employment at an aviation company in Denver, Colorado. In 1973, he had a job opportunity at Duncan Aviation and made the move to Lincoln, Nebraska. Gerry was united in marriage to Jean Riley on April 22, 1989. He was employed at Duncan Aviation for 39 years before retiring in 2012. Gerry enjoyed baseball, spending time with his family, taking vacations with his wife, Jean, relaxing and reading. He volunteered at Holy Savior Lutheran Church and enjoyed giving tours at UNL.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Jean Riley-Schultz; parents, Don and Rhoda Schultz; parents-in-law, Earl and Adeline Lohmeier; stepson, Russ Riley; nephew, Eric Schultz; sister-in-law, Pat Schultz; brother-in-law, Al Gould; sister-in-law, Wendy Lohmeier.
Survivors cherishing his memory include his son and family, Kevin (Sarah) Schultz; Lincoln; step-grandchildren, Alex, Jerod and Nina Bryant, Lincoln; daughter and family, Jennifer (Troy) Davison, Waverly; grandchildren/great-grandchildren, Kyla (Jake) Stalsberg, Annabella and Aurora, Lincoln; Kaden and Kamryn Lorenson, Waverly; step-grandchildren, Saraah and Rylan Davison, Waverly; step-daughter and family, Rebecca (Rich) Buchmann, Lincoln; grandsons, Matt (Megan) Roach and Zach Roach, all of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Bentley, Ryder, Eli, and Jameson, Lincoln; step-grandchildren/great-grandchildren, Bryce (Mara) Buchmann, Brayden and Lyla, Henderson, CO; Jamie (Jacob) Wuestewald, Aspen and Oakley, Omaha; Brett (Rachel) Buchmann, Maverick and Brewer, Omaha; brother, Richard Schultz, Cedar Rapids, IA; sister, Pam Gould, Cedar Rapids, IA; brother-in-law, John Lohmeier and fiancée Marilyn Robinson, Lincoln; sisters-in-law, JoAnn (Wayne) Ficke, Lincoln, LuAnn Lohmeier (Patrick Yost), Edmond, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors and wonderful friends God has blessed us with.
