Gerald Harry Knuth was born February 4, 1925 in Milford, Nebraska to Harry Fred and Lydia Opal (Barth) Knuth and passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2010 in West Bend, Wisconsin at the age of 85 years, 9 months, 24 days. Gerald served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was very proud of his service. He was united in marriage to Esther Sheets on September 22, 1944 in Marysville, Washington. He was a dairy farmer in the state of Washington. In 1964, he moved to Des Moines, Iowa and worked for E & K Drywall and in the late 1960's he became the owner of Knuth Drywall Service in West Bend, Wisconsin. Gerald was very active in the Lt. Ray Dickop Post 36 American Legion, local tractor clubs and the Dodge County EAA Flyers Club, Chapter 897, all located in West Bend, Wisconsin. At a younger age Gerald enjoyed carving airplanes. He enjoyed cooking and looking at recipes and loved humor. He is preceded in death by his wife, Esther Knuth; his parents, Harry and Lydia Knuth; his brothers, Lawrence Knuth and Wilbur Knuth. Gerald is survived by his three children, Laura Mills of Everett, Washington; Lonnie Knuth, Stanwood, Washington and Lance and Dorinda Knuth also of Stanwood, Washington; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include his siblings and their spouses, Dick and Nancy Knuth of Orlando, Florida, Don and Phyllis Knuth of Mead, Robert and Wilma Knuth of Lincoln, Merle and Elna Knuth of Urbandale, Iowa, Margaret and Dick Hoover of Grand Island, Doris and Wayne Troyer of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister-in-law, Betty Knuth of Lincoln; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Gerald. |
