Geraldine Marie (Suhr) Prochnow was born July 27, 1928 at Waco, Nebraska to Carl and Katherine (Walsh) Suhr. She was baptized August 13, 1928 at Utica. Geraldine attended grade school in Tamora until 1941, when the family moved to Seward. She attended Seward Public School, graduating in 1946. She was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward on June 9, 1946. Geraldine was married to Richard Prochnow on April 21, 1948 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln. The couple had three sonsMike, Gary, and Bill. Geraldine and Richard lived in Lincoln for 23 years before moving to a farm east of Seward in 1971. In 1999, they moved to Seward. Geraldine was a homemaker for several years. She worked for the Department of Agriculture from 1962 to 1971; from 1972 until retiring in April of 1995 Geraldine worked for Lincoln Public School as head of the print shop. Geraldine was a member of St. John Lutheran Church Seward and the American Legion Auxiliary Seward.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Katherine Suhr; a sister, Gwen Menze; brother, Darrell Suhr; two brothers-in-law, Raymond Prochnow and Kenneth Crabtree.

Geraldine is survived by her husband, Richard Prochnow, Seward; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Becky, Seward, Gary and Kathy Prochnow, Pleasant Dale, and Bill Prochnow, Casper, WY; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Barb Suhr, Seward; sisters-in-law, Eunice Crabtree, Idaho Falls, ID, Ardis Prochnow, Lincoln; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.
