Geraldine J. Hoffman, 79, of Seward passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on July 2, 2010 at the Greene House where she had been a resident for the past six months. She was a 27 year oral cancer survivor and fought a valiant fight against COPD since 2004. Geraldine was born January 24, 1931 to Calvin and Emma (Krenk) Noxon. She was a graduate of Seward High School in 1948. "Gerry" worked for many years as a waitress in Seward, with special enjoyment during the 18 years at the Seward Country Club, where she acquired many lifelong friends. Upon retirement, she became a full time homemaker, nurturing a home that was always filled with love, laughter, and kindness. During her years, Geraldine was actively involved with the Eastern Star and the Presbyterian Church, where she was a member for over 56 years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and her bridge and nickel card clubs. Geraldine's greatest love was being with her family and playing cards. She particularly enjoyed the times when all of her children were able to rendezvous together for celebrations and family time. Gerry especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. Geraldine is survived by her loving husband, Harry, of more that 60 years of marriage; three daughters, Susan Mahoney and husband, Michael of Brighton, CO, Sandy Odean and husband, Greg of Dallas TX, Holly Kennedy and husband, Dan of Bettendorf, IA; one son, Harry "Buzz" Hoffman and wife, Jennifer of Seward, NE; one sister, Dorothy Martinez and Tony Martinez of Omaha, NE; three sisters-in-law, Mary Noxon of Seward, NE, Loretta Noxon of Lincoln, NE and Reva Noxon of California; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
