Gertrude Ann (Uhing) Shaw was born May 21, 1940 in Scribner, Nebraska, the daughter of Leo and Anna (Rahok) Uhing. Gert passed away on February 11, 2017 in David City, Nebraska at the age of 76 years, 8 months, 21 days. Gertrude was united in marriage to LeRoy Ellsworth Shaw on April 25, 1956 in Omaha, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Jeff, Kenneth and Randy. Gertie was a devoted farm wife and mother, living at their farm home near Bradshaw, Nebraska for over 50 years. Gertrude was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in York, Nebraska. She was a collector of Barbie dolls, Precious Moments, and many beautiful pieces that caught her eye. She loved the outdoors, and spent many years helping support her family by raising hogs. Upon returning to the farm after spending ten years in Kansas City, she decided to try her hand at raising llamas.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Anna Uhing; her brother, Joseph Uhing and sister, Martha Shaw.
Survivors cherishing Gertie's memory include her husband, LeRoy Shaw, Bradshaw; sons and spouses: Jeff Shaw, Lincoln, Kenneth and Sandy Shaw, Seward, Randy and Jill Shaw, Crete; grandchildren and spouses: Christina and Fred Williams, Dakar, Senegal Africa, Brock and Esther Shaw, Overland Park, KS, Brett Shaw and fiancé, Andrea von Kampen, Lincoln, Tyler and Katy Shaw (great-granddaughter to be born in March), Pleasant Dale, Tristan Shaw, Crete, Taryn Shaw, Crete and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Gertrude.
