Gladys Elaine Hildebrand was born on June 21, 1922 in Seward, Nebraska, to Herman and Leotha (Edens) Busch and passed away on September 30, 2018, in Seward, at the age of 96 years, 3 months and 9 days. After graduating from Utica High School in 1938, she received an Associate Degree from Doane College in 1940. She was married to Victor Dan Hildebrand on December 27, 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska. They resided in Seward, Nebraska with their three children, Bob, Mary and Beth. Gladys was a homemaker, a longtime member of Seward United Methodist Church, various bowling leagues, several bridge clubs, Seward Country Club and Blue Valley Quilt Guild. Gladys enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, scrabble, card games, golf and traveling. Gladys taught herself to sew when Vic bought her a sewing machine early in their marriage. She never really enjoyed sewing clothes, but she loved quilting. Her friends and family (and the church bazaar) were recipients of the hundreds of beautiful quilts, wall hangings and afghans she created. She could often be found in her sewing room or downtown at the Fabric Fair. Gladys was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. To say she had a positive outlook on life would be an understatement.
