Gladys Graben Johnson was born on April 21, 1914 in Beatrice, Nebraska to Benjamin and Mary (Baber) Wood and passed away on August 1, 2005 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 91 years, 3 months, 10 days.

As a young woman Gladys moved to Seward where she worked as a hairdresser. Gladys was united in marriage to Charles H. Graben on October 7, 1938 in Seward. This marriage was blessed with one child, Charlene.

Gladys worked with Charles at Graben Appliance Store until they retired in 1965. She then worked at Seward Memorial Hospital as a receptionist. Charles died on January 31, 1983. Gladys married I.K. Jack Johnson on June 10, 1988 in Leech Lake, Minnesota. They enjoyed many summers together at Leech Lake. Jack died on January 10, 2000. She was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ where she enjoyed church committee work. She also enjoyed her family, friends, bridge club, cooking and was a lover of animals.

Preceding Gladys in death were her parents, husbands, brothers and sisters.

Gladys is survived by her daughter, Charlene Graben of San Pedro, California; Jacks children, Ken and Beverly Johnson and Cherie and Gary Northouse, other relatives and a host of friends.
