"Glennie" Duensing
February 28, 1931 – February 2, 2026
Glendora Rae (Sorensen) Duensing was lifted up to her heavenly father on February 2, 2026, at the age of 94 following a fruitful and blessed life. Glendora (Glennie) was born on February 28, 1931, to Otto and Stella Sorensen in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She grew up in Gering, Nebraska and went to McKinley Elementary School, Gering Middle School and Gering High School where she was a high jump champion.
Glendora was accepted as a student at Concordia Teachers College Seward Nebraska in 1949. She met her future husband, Elden (Jack) Duensing at Concordia shortly after and fell in love. She graduated and accepted her first teaching position in Hastings, Nebraska in 1952. Glendora and Elden married in 1953 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. The two moved to Twin Falls, Idaho shortly after Elden's graduation where she taught 1st and 2nd grade and where her first two sons, Paul and Philip, were born. They moved to Cranston, Rhode Island in 1956 later, where her last two sons, John and Michael, were born. In 1962 they moved to Seward, Nebraska where they remained, except for a six-year stint on the road living in an RV while working for Laborers for Christ building schools and churches.
Glendora worked as a secretary at St. John Lutheran Church for 15 years and 13 years at the LCMS District office. She also taught Home Economics at St. John Lutheran School for four years. She was an active member of LWL, Concordia Guild, St. John choir/Bell Choir, Fine Arts Committee, Seward Magazine Club, Concordia/Tower Guild, and National Federation of Women's Club. Glendora loved her family and enjoyed entertaining friends. Her hobbies included art, stained glass, sewing and music. She was very active in the church and community. She especially enjoyed their travels to Europe, Alaska, and Hawaii.
Glendora is proceeded by her parents, Otto and Stella Sorensen; her brother, Harold and wife Adella, and her sons, Paul and Philip. She is survived by her husband Elden, sons John and wife Deb, Mike and wife Kathy, grandchildren Amy, Markus, Joel, Andrew, Tyler, Kyle, Heather, Brandon and great grandchildren Elias, Aria, Calum, Colette, Sloane, Sienna, Beckett, Remi, Madison, David, Adeline and Ayden.
