Gloria Marcella Witt was born October 26, 1924 in St. Louis, Missouri to Henry A. and Lillian E. (Haeckel) Ziegler and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on February 28, 2009 at the age of 84 years, 4 months, 2 days. Gloria was baptized on November 30, 1924 at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Louis and was confirmed on April 10, 1938 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in St. Louis. Gloria attended school, Business School for 2 years and then worked in the Federal Reserve Bank, all in St. Louis. On June 8, 1946, she was united in marriage to Elmer John Witt at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in St. Louis. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Alan, Patti and David. Gloria was a homemaker until 1970 when she began employment as a typist with the West Point News in West Point, Nebraska. In February of 1997, the couple moved to Seward to be near their children and Gloria became a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She had been a resident of Ridgewood Care Center for 6 years. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Henry A. and Lillian Ziegler and her husband, Elmer J. Witt in 1999. Gloria is survived by her son, Alan Witt of Lincoln; her daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Tim Danbom of Seward; son and daughter-in-law, David and Kelly Witt of Portland, Oregon; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Orma Beckmann of Pender, Norma Novak of Randolph, Arlene Witt of O'Neill Mylet Witt of Bancroft, Melvin and Ida Mae Witt of Wakefield; cousin, Dorothy Keune of St. Louis, MO; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Gloria. |
