Grace Margaret (McGraw) Weitzel was born August 31, 1918 in Chugwater, Wyoming to William P. and Rose (Norton) McGraw and passed away on February 27, 2006 in Grand Island, Nebraska at the age of 87 years, 5 months, 27 days. Graces mother passed away when Grace was very young and she was raised by her grandmother, Mary McGraw and her aunt, Emma McGraw. She was a 1936 graduate of Geneva High School. On January 3, 1946, Grace was united in marriage to Chancellor Henry Weitzel at Geneva, Nebraska. They lived in Clarkson for 5 years, 5 months in Tilden and made their home in Seward beginning in 1951. Grace was employed with Russell Stover Candy in Lincoln for many years. Grace and Chan enjoyed dancing and attending Army Reunions. Grace has resided in Grand Island since 1995. She was a member of St. Marys Cathedral in Grand Island and a former member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church in Seward. Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Chan in 1993; her parents, William and Rose McGraw; her brothers, Jennings and Howard McGraw; brother-in-law, Phillip Weitzel; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Holland and JoAnn Gragg. Grace is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Deb Weitzel, Grand Island, Richard and Peggy Weitzel, Fremont; grandchildren and spouses, Amanda Weitzel, Laura and Joe Baumgardner, Dustin and Nicole Weitzel, Brandon Weitzel, Shane Weitzel; great-grandson, Cooper Weitzel; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Weitzel, Norfolk, Viola and Chester Holland, Bellevue, Richard Butch Gragg, Seward, Shirley McGraw, Oklahoma City, OK; and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Grace. |
