Greg D. Staehr

Gregory Dean Staehr was called home to Heaven on August 22, 2026. He was born in York on January 7, 1961, to Gerald and Marilyn (Toombs) Staehr. He graduated from York High School in 1979. Greg worked at the family business, Ron & Jerry’s, for his entire life. He could often be found at the infamous picnic table scheduling work, making out bills and at the end of the day enjoying a cocktail with anyone that happened to stop in. Endless memories were made during that time. In his final working years, he had developed a knack for keeping business moving with little more than his phone.

He married Debra Ann Pederson at Emmanuel Faith Lutheran Church in 1982. Together they have two children, Arin (1988) and Carston (1996). Greg’s faith was his compass. He knew no strangers, only people he hadn’t yet shared a story with. Though he never minced words, his unsparing honesty left a lasting impact on everyone that crossed his path. Greg’s hands were calloused from hard work, and he took great joy living in service and sharing his faith with others. May he find eternal rest in the arms of his Creator.

Welcoming him to Heaven are his parents; sister, Robin; father-in-law, Clifford Pederson; close friends, Benny Gdowski and Dave Richardson as well as many aunts, uncles, friends and loved ones.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 44 years, Deb; daughter, Arin (Jeremy) Bayly of Council Bluffs, IA; son, Carston (Rachelle) Staehr of York; granddaughter, Prescott; sister, Linda (Daryl) Wilton of Arizona; nephew, Ben Wilton and daughters, Edie and Louise Wilton of Omaha; niece, Jennifer (Jeff) and daughters, Emilee, and Caitlyn McKenzie of Arizona; sister, Kathy (Rex) Pruitt and niece, Reagan Pruitt of North Carolina; sister, Renee (Ron) Brennan of Virginia, and nieces, Ellen (Charlie) Goodyear, Ruby, and Georgia Brennan, all of Virginia; mother-in-law, Shirley Pederson of Goehner; sister-in-law, Shelly (Tim) Troyer of Milford; sister-in-law, Tammie (Chris) Rieger of Utica; and brother-in-law, Alan (Rhonda) Pederson of Omaha. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, a long list of friends, and 2,318 contacts stored in his phone.
