Harold Dean Goings, son of Floyd Henry and Rose Lavigne Goings was born June 20, 1924 on a family farm north of Humboldt, Nebraska and passed away on March 23, 2012 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 87 years, 9 months, 3 days. Dean was one of six children. He attended school in Auburn,Nebraska and graduated with the Class of 1942. Dean was united in marriage to Eleanor Jean Wilson on March 15, 1945 and to this union three children were born, Dianna, Pamela and Michael. Dean and Jean owned and operated two service stations and farmed around Auburn. They were beautiful dancers. On Saturday nights they would drive to the Elks Club in Falls City and danced to Big Band Music. They especially loved to jitterbug. In 1956 they moved to York and operated a Lime and Fertilizer business. Dean was very involved in the York Jaycees. In 1961, Dean was asked to be a State Farm Agent in Seward where the family moved. Dean was an agent with State Farm for 33 1/2 years. Jean passed away in June of 1986. In April of 1988 Dean married Juanita Clark Hoffman. Dean was a member of the Seward United Methodist Church, York Elks Club #1024 and a former member of the Seward Chamber ofCommerce. Dean was an avid Nebraska fan! Dean is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Rose Goings; wife, Jean Goings; brother and sister-in-law, Gale and Donna Goings; sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie (Goings) and Lloyd Johnson; brother-in-law, Jack Holtzbauer. Survivors include, wife, Nita Goings, Seward; his three children and their spouses, Dianna and Russ Ratzlow, Pam and Ray Thompson and Michael and Vicki Goings, all of Lincoln. Step-children, Jon Hoffman, Bullhead City, AZ, James and Kathy Hoffman, Apple Valley, CA and Sandy Hoffman, Plattsmouth;14 grandchildren and step grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Glade and Laverne Goings, Auburn, LorenGoings, Auburn, Harley and Frances Goings, Tecumseh; sister-in-law, Alvera Holtzbauer, Scottsdale, AZ; brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Jack and Diane Clark, Seward; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
