Harold Henry Schildt, the son of Fred and Catherine (Woebbecke) Schildt was born April 14, 1918 in rural Seward, Nebraska. Harold passed away on August 8, 2010 at Ridgewood Care Center in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 3 months, 24 days. Harold was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Milford on May 5, 1918 and confirmed on March 20, 1932 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. His family moved to a farm near Pleasant Dale and he attended Christian Day School at Immanuel Lutheran School. On September 21, 1942, Harold was united in marriage to Helen Louise Ahrens in Pleasant Dale, Nebraska. Harold was engaged in farming and lived most of their married life on the farm west of Malcolm. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he held many positions within the church and school. He enjoyed polka music, watching wrestling on television and playing cards with their neighbors and friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Catherine Schildt; one daughter, Delores; his brother, Melvin Schildt; his sister, Bernice Eikenhorst and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Harold is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen Schildt of Seward; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Pat Schildt of Malcolm; daughters and sons-in-law, MarJean and Milan Schweitzer and Ila and Harry Keller, all of Pleasant Dale; eight grandchildren and spouses, Brent Schildt, Ryan Schildt, Leigh Ann and Landon Husband, Kelley and Dan Burianek, Jodi and Tom Barry, Jeff and Jenni Schweitzer, Kyle and Marta Keller, Leslie and Cory Thomas; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Esther Luebbe of Seward; brother-in-law, Orval Eikenhorst of Osceola; nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Harold. |
