Obituary

Harold Wayne Stauffer was born April 7, 1937 in Milford, Nebraska, the son of Edwin E. and Carrie E. (Schweitzer) Stauffer and passed away on November 24, 2012 at the age of 75 years, 7 months, 17 days. Harold was a 1955 graduate of Milford High School. On April 13, 1958, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Carol Fritz at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Randall, Nancy, and Brenda. With the exception of the first 3 months of their marriage when they lived in Seward, all of their married life was spent in Milford. Harold was a truck driver for Nash Finch, Houston Truck Line and from 1984 through 2001 was a driver for Seward Motor Freight. While at SMF, he had the opportunity to haul the Nebraska Cornhusker weights to the 1993 Orange Bowl. Harold was a member of the Milford United Methodist Church and United Methodist Men and Thornridge Golf Course in Milford. He was a member of the Nebraska Motor Carriers Association where he was selected four times as "driver of the month". He was also a member of the National Motor Carriers Association where he received the driver of the month designation. Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Carrie Stauffer; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Emil and Iona Fritz; brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Marilyn Stauffer; brother-in-law, Don Harms; sister-in-law, Beverly Pierce; niece Crystal Schnittker, nephew, Rodney Stauffer. Harold is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Sylvia Stauffer, Milford; son and daughter-in-law, Randall D. and Pat Stauffer, Hesston, KS, daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy J. and Scott Jenson, Lincoln, Brenda S. and Thomas Riley, Galesburg, IL; seven grandchildren, Erin and Garrett Pennington, Emily Stauffer, Jacob Riley, Sarah Riley, Adam Riley, Rebekah Riley, Isaac Riley; great-grandson, Ethan Pennington; siblings, Eleanor Harms, Milford, Lydia and Quentin Schnittker, Lincoln, Leland Stauffer, Scottland, SD; six nieces and five nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Harold.
