Harriet Martha "Peg" (Pueggel) Oetting was born June 8, 1933 in Garner, Iowa to Herman John and Emma Emily (Boehnke) Pueggel and passed away on May 14, 2012 at her home in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 78 years, 11 months, 6 days. Peg was baptized on July 2, 1933 and confirmed on April 14, 1946, both at St. John Lutheran Church in Garner, Iowa. Peg attended St. John Lutheran School and was a 1950 graduate of Ventura, Iowa Public High School. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Education degrees both from Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska. On July 19, 1953 Peg was united in marriage to Eugene Martin Oetting at St. John Lutheran Church in Garner with Pastor L. W. Heidemann officiating. Peg taught in Lutheran Elementary Schools for 24 years in Lincoln, Nebraska, Houston, Texas, Inglewood, California and Seward, Nebraska.. In 1967 Peg and Gene moved in Seward, Nebraska. Peg was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. She was also involved in Prison Ministry. Peg is preceded in death by her parents, Herman John and Emma Emily Pueggel; sisters, Marie Moe, Evelyn Gronbach and Marlys Dreyer. Peg's survivors include her husband, Eugene Oetting, Seward; son and daughter-in-law, David and Jody Oetting, Sarasota, Florida and daughter, Shauna Oetting, Seward; sister, Viola Monahan, Loveland, CO; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Carol Pueggel, Garner, IA; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; brothers-in-law and spouses, Larry and Kitty Oetting, Lincoln, Bob and Carol Oetting, Charleston, IL, Dennis and Donna Oetting, Emma, MO; sisters-in-law and spouses, Lois and Gerald Pomerenke, Miami, MO, Sharon and Mike Sherrill, Farmington, MO and a host of friends.
