Hazel Lena (Clem) Runge was born April 20, 1912 in Crete, Nebraska to Winfield Adam and Lena Belle (Wild) Clem and passed away on December 7, 2006 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 94 years, 7 months, 17 days. Hazel attended Diamond Rural School near Crete. She worked at the Crete Mills. On October 18, 1938, Hazel was united in marriage to Martin Lawrence Runge at the Methodist Parsonage in Lincoln, Nebraska. To this union two children were born, Sally and Tom. Hazel was a farm wife, she helped with feeding the cattle, sold eggs, and enjoyed baking and gardening. She was a member of the Bennet Community Church and was also a Farmers Union member. Martin passed away in 1984 and Hazel remained on their farm until her move to Seward in 2004. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Winfield and Lena Clem, her husband, Martin Runge; her sister, Iola Clem; brothers, Wilson Clem and Jacob Clem; sisters-in-law, Edna Hineline and Hilda Jensen; brothers-in-law, Harold Runge and Melvin Runge. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Mo Jost, Seward, son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Pat Runge, Lincoln; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jon and Marianella Jost of Tallahassee Florida, Kimi and Jim Reichart of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Angella and Scott Kanger of Chicago, Illinois, Jill and Brian Gable of Lincoln and Jay Runge of Lincoln; four great-grandsons, Jonathon, Maxwell and Spencer Reichart and Alex Gable; sister-in-law, Wilma Clem, Palmyra; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Hazel. |
