Helen Marie Craig was born on January 1, 1931, four and one half miles east of Seward, to Paul August and Jessie Iona (Comer) Bock and passed away at her home in Seward, Nebraska on July 26, 2013 at the age of 82 years, 6 months, and 25 days. Helen was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward and later baptized in the Church of Christ in Seward. Helen attended school in Seward and was a graduate of Seward High School. On January 14, 1947 she was united in marriage to Gordon Calvin Craig in Seward. Their union was blessed with six children, James, Janet, Gary, John, Brian and Melissa. Helen was an active member of the Church of Christ in Seward, a longtime Day Care provider , and other memberships include the Rebecca Lodge and the Royal Neighbors Extension Club. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gordon in 1985; her son Gary; her daughter-in-law Janet; her grandsons, Eli Rundell and Rodney Craig; her great grandson Christian Riefler; her sister Nadine Schmersal; aunt Selma Bock; brothers-in-law, Richard Craig, Delbert Craig, David Craig, Charles DeVon, Don Erks, and Roy Schmersal. She is survived by her children and their spouses, James Craig, Beaver Crossing, Janet and Ligie Rundell, Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, Melody Craig, Ulysses, John and Sue Craig, Seward, Brian and Tami Craig, Seward and Melissa Craig, Seward; her 23 grandchildren; her 20 great grandchildren; her sisters, Betty DeVon, Woodward, Oklahoma and Maxine Erks, Seward; step brother and spouse, Corney and Donna Sheehan, Seward; step sister, Kathleen Cain, Green Valley, Arizona; many nieces and nephews; her former day care "children" and many friends.
